Internally Funded (Departmental Or Foundation) Research Projects:
- Internally funded (Departmental and Foundation) research projects involving animals shall require scientific merit review (review is done by sub-committee). Sub-committee review will precede review by the Animal Care and Use Committee.
- All projects approved by the ACUC are for a maximum of 3 years with annual progress reports required. Any investigator actively using animals in the third year of their project is required to submit a new ACUC application form and revised updated supporting materials.
Training Projects And External Research Projects:
- Training projects and external research and development projects (supported by industry or private companies) using animals are exempt from a science and merit review.
- All training protocols involving the use of animals must be accompanied by an outline of the course work.
- All projects approved by the ACUC can be conducted for a maximum of 3 years with annual progress reports required. Any investigator actively using animals in the third year of their project is required to submit a new ACUC application form and revised updated supporting materials.
Submission Information:
Applications are due the 3rd Friday of the month (exceptions, see bullet 2 above); reviews will be completed by the 3rd week of the following month.
