In 2010, HPRF researchers collaborated with national and international research partners on more than 200 studies on health behaviors, chronic disease, neurology and Alzheimer's disease, and oral health and dental care. They disseminated the results of their research by publishing 151 articles, books and book chapters and by giving 269 paper and poster presentations at national and international conferences.
All of this research is possible only through our agency funding and donations from individuals. We thank everyone who contributed in 2010. Together, we are improving the health and health care of our patients, members and community.
Some of this year's most exciting studies include:
- Michael Maciosek, PhD, and colleagues' study on how preventive medicine can save years of life and money
- Ralph Frascone, MD, and colleagues' study on how active CPR is more effective than the standard method
- JoAnn Sperl-Hillen, MD, and Patrick O'Connor, MD, and colleagues study on how simulated cases help physicians better control patients' diabetes
- Brian Martinson, PhD, and colleagues' study on how a support program helped older adults reap the rewards of long-term physical activity
