Education: MD, U of MN Medical School; Residency, University of Maryland Hospital; gastrointestinal fellowship, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Research highlights: Dr. Solberg has been the principal investigator (PI) or co-PI on several large National Institutes of Health/Agency for Health Research and Quality-funded research grants. He has published more than 200 research papers and books and book chapters. He received the 2008 University of Minnesota Medical Alumni Society Distinguished Alumni Award.

 

Research interests/expertise: Quality measurement and improvement and organizational change, especially for chronic disease care (including depression) and clinical preventive services delivery (especially tobacco control), as well as primary care redesign/medical home.

 

Current projects: 1) PI of the National Institute of Mental Health-funded study of a major initiative called DIAMOND to change the payment and care for adults with depression throughout Minnesota primary care clinics, 2) PI of several studies of medical homes, and 3) Involved in 10 other research projects as investigator or consultant.
