Research highlights: Minnesota region principal investigator (PI) of The Dental Practice Based Research Network, funded through the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and administered through the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The network involves Minnesota dentists in research relevant to their patients and the problems they see.
Research interests/expertise: The impact of chronic illnesses on oral health, testing new approaches to improve the translation of research into daily practice and practice-based research.
Current projects: 1) PI of Computer-Assisted Guidance for Tobacco Dependence Interventions in Dental Offices, a National Institutes of Health-funded project to study office-based tobacco interventions using the electronic dental record, 2) Co-investigator of the Development of Electronic Dental Records for Translating Research into Practice study, and 3) DPBRN studies.
