Research highlights: : In addition to her own research studies, Dr. Margolis has been an investigator in several large multi-center, federally funded trials involving cardiovascular disease and women's health, including the Women's Health Initiative, the Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial (ALLHAT), and Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD). Dr. Margolis has published numerous papers in medical journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, the New England Journal of Medicine and the Archives of Internal Medicine.
Research interests/expertise: Postmenopausal women's health, prevention of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes.
Current projects: 1) Principal investigator (PI) for the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute-funded HyperLink project to study home blood pressure telemonitoring and case management to control hypertension, 2) the Women's Health Initiative, 3) Aspirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly (APSREE), a trial to test whether low-dose daily aspirin will prolong healthy lifespan in people aged 70 or older.
